At first I thought there might be a way to make it work, but then I Googled “toilet planter”. The results confirm your opinion.

These planter things are second in tackiness only to those signs that say “If this van’s rockin’, don’t come knockin” and they actually MEAN it, because it’s a common occurrence. Get a frickin’ room, please.
